Wax Education

Flamingo
Flamingo launched with a full suite of hair removal tools—including wax strips—and found that we underestimated the amount of questions and guidance people would need in navigating at-home wax. The women who are familiar with at-home wax were thrown off by a different (soft wax experience), and the women who were trying it for the first time had a tough time with specific areas, like bikini lines and armpits.

Our products were designed with the experience in mind, and we feel confident that women will have a great experience if they’re set up for success with the right educational materials.
The goal of this project is to create a helpful step(s) in the customer journey to help position Flamingo as:
  • A brand that speaks to women intelligently
  • A brand that get its; waxing is not fun and painless
  • A brand that’s honest and empathetic
  • A brand that’s providing people with information and solutions
  • A brand that goes beyond razors to deliver women the best options for body care and hair removal
  • A brand she’ll want to tell all her friends about.

The Ladies of Flamingo – Waxing Tutorial

Where this might live in her journey

Focus on users in bold, but consider all parts of the journey

Prospects
Women considering purchasing Flamingo wax strips. This woman may be a first time or seasoned at home wax user.

Waiting for package
This woman is anticipating receiving Flamingo package. Our current user spends time browsing our site, so this anticipatory period is an opportunity to direct her to waxing content.

Package Sitting on the counter
This woman is deciding: where to wax/how to wax/ when to wax/ if she is going to wax. This may be a point where we need to bring her over the hump to make her comfortable/excited about her first Flamingo waxing experience.

About to (or in the middle of) wax
This woman is deciding: where to wax/how to wax/ if she’s doing it right/ if she should continue/ if she should use it again/ if what she is experiencing is normal. Hypothesis: if our woman has made it here without hearing about our education products, she’s going for the in-box instructions.
